Hey guys! I’ve been very busy these past few weeks and I am so sorry that I have not posted in a long time. But, today I want to tell you about a makeup and skincare brand called Beautycounter. I have been using their products for a while now and I really love them! What sets them apart from so many other skin care companies out there is there important mission: Everyone should be able to buy and use makeup/skincare that is safe for their own body.
Beautycounter was founded in 2013 by Gregg Renfrew. She came up with this idea of selling luxury, safe, makeup and skincare for everyone, after seeing a movie called “Inconvenient Truth”. While she watched the movie she learned that a lot of things in our world are hurting the environment. This movie made a profound impact on her. Knowing she wanted to make a difference in the world, she created Beautycounter, a makeup and skincare brand completely free of harmful ingredients. Lastly, Gregg wanted Beautycounter to be a movement to, a movement about getting everyone safer beauty products made with the highest quality.
Did you know your skin is the largest organ in your body? We need to know what goes on our skin, because that can affect our health in the future. Who wants to find out they have skin cancer because of that bad lotion they put on years ago? Science and research have made it clear, it’s never too early to start caring for our skin. That is why we, teenagers, should start now making sure the stuff we put on our skin is safe. I hope you keep reading because below I’ll summarize some great products that are perfect for us teenagers to start using right now.
So, this is what got me really interested. Beautycounter has compiled a list of all the bad ingredients being used in beauty products. This list (which you can find online) is called, The Never List™. Beautycounter said, The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that should never be used in our products. Did you ever think about this before? Who would have known that what we put on our skin could be putting us at such a high risk for other issues down the road? I didn’t! Since World War II, there has been 85,000 chemicals introduced into the society and only 10% have been tested for being safe to use. This means we don’t know about the safety of 90% of 85,000 chemicals being used in products people use daily without much thought. You will not find any untested, unsafe ingredients in the Beauty Counter line and that’s what I’m talking about!
Now let’s get to some suggested teen products. First, I suggest the Beautycounter Plus line, which includes a charcoal face mask, charcoal face mist, and a balance oil. It is called the “Plus” line because you do your daily skin care routine “plus” this routine. If you have bad acne, then you need the Plus line! The charcoal face mist and mask will clear your acne right away! Also another routine for bad acne is washing your face with charcoal soap, then drying it well and putting on a mix of the nourishing cream and a little bit of balancing oil. This will help nourish your skin and remove that terrible, torturous thing that comes from puberty 🙂
Some other suggestions I have are, the cream cleanser, the balancing oil, the lip conditioner, and the tinted sunscreen. I like to start my mornings by washing my face with cream cleanser and then applying some tinted sunscreen, accompanied by the lip conditioner. Before bed, I wash my face again with the cream cleanser, and put on some balancing oil. I love the feeling of a clean, nourished, hydrated face, how about you?
So to wrap up, let me summarize the most important takeaways from my enthusiastic rant (I hope you are still reading)! First your skin is the largest organ in your body. Second, anything bad you put on your skin might hurt you in the future. Third, even some of the most famous skincare and makeup companies are not actually “all natural”, like they say they are. And finally, if you want to start changing how you care for your skin, check out the Beautycounter website and learn more.
I would like to give a huge thanks to Cindy Persky for taking time to tell me more about these products and for making me aware that you are never too young to start caring for your skin. If you ever want to buy anything from Beautycounter please contact her, cindypersky@gmail.com.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
